The University of Mississippi’s new 230,000-square-foot basketball arena, which has officially been named “The Pavilion at Ole Miss”, is a state-of-the-art facility which will comprise a basketball court, training facilities, Courtside Club, Arena Club and All-American Suites. The 9,600-seat arena will replace the 1966-built C. M. Tad Smith Coliseum, which has a capacity of 8,700.
The total construction of the arena required 6,835 pieces and 2,440 tons of structural steel. The arena will also consist of 418 pieces of precast panels, and risers which make up the seating and exterior facade of the structure. The facility will be developed on the west side of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on a site occupied by a parking lot and the Rebel Shop.
Once completed, The Pavilion at Ole Miss will not only be a destination point for the Ole Miss men’s and women’s basketball programs, but for the entire athletics department.
